Editorial Policy

ADU Journal is an independent publication. Our editorial decisions are made without advertiser influence, and we do not accept payment for coverage, placement in our builder directory, or inclusion in our jurisdiction database.

Independence

No individual, company, or organization pays to appear in ADU Journal’s editorial coverage. Builders in our directory were identified through independent research. Jurisdiction data is sourced from public records, official agency websites, and verified contributor submissions. We correct errors when we find them or when they are reported to us.

Sources

We rely on primary sources wherever possible โ€” state statutes, municipal codes, agency publications, and direct reporting. Where we cite secondary sources, we link to them. Where data may have changed since publication, we note the review date.

Advocacy

ADU Journal has an editorial point of view: we believe accessory dwelling units are an important, underutilized tool for addressing the American housing crisis, and we cover the ADU space through that lens. We are transparent about this perspective. Advocacy journalism is not the same as inaccuracy โ€” we report facts, we correct mistakes, and we hold multiple perspectives in our coverage.

Corrections

If you believe something we have published is factually incorrect, please contact us at dave@adujournal.com with the relevant details. We review all correction requests and publish corrections prominently when warranted.

Submissions

We welcome story tips and contributed articles. Submitted content is reviewed editorially and may be edited for clarity, accuracy, and length. Submission does not guarantee publication.
